Outside of the box, creative thinkers!
Dyslexia has long been misunderstood, but thanks to the great work of people, such as the late Renee Lawton-Browne, it is beginning to be recognised for what it is: a learning difference that affects around 10% of the population, and which has no bearing at all on the intelligence or creativity of the individual. In fact, although many great entrepreneurs, artists, designers and actors talk openly about their struggles with dyslexia during their school years, they are equally thankful that their brains are wired differently, as they understand this contributes to their creative outlook and ‘out of the box’ thinking.
Dyslexia affects the way the brain processes and remembers information - especially that which is seen and heard. This can have a knock-on effect in areas such as organisational skills, reading and writing, recalling instructions, telling left from right, and the acquisition of literacy skills.
Frustration resulting from these challenges may also lead to additional problems in a school environment - such as difficulty concentrating, falling behind in studies, and a loss of self-confidence. However, one must understand that these problems have nothing to do with dyslexia itself! Rather, they reflect the failure of the education provider to diagnose and adapt to the needs of the dyslexic pupil.
There are a vast number of dyslexic individuals who have gone on to achieve great things, and at The Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic, we aim to lay the foundation for that greatness with every pupil we encounter.
I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this experience. This was our second assessment as our daughter is incredibly shy and the first assessment was cold, detached, and unsuccessful in gathering enough information to properly diagnose her. After a warm phone exchange with Delia, I felt such a relief to know that we would be assessing with her and her husband.
Our second assessment was so different. They made my daughter feel comfortable, they explained the process, and they asked all the right questions to get a full picture of her history and abilities. They thoroughly explained to me the testing process immediately following her assessment and since that day they have answered all my questions and given me so much hope for my daughters educational future.
They are warm, knowledgable, and dedicated to their mission to help those with dyslexia.

We have had fantastic experiences working with Delia and the team at Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic. Our son was assessed as dyslexic while at primary school - Delia worked with him providing targeted interventions outside the class room during school time, and then later on by putting us in contact with one of her specialist tutors who we worked with at home. The support he received over those years in primary transformed the way he was able to engage with school - to the point where having been assessed as severly dyslexic in the early years of primary - by the time he began secondary his reading was above the normal range for his age and he is acheiving in line with expectations. We can't thank Delia and team enough.

Wonderful experience for my daughter many years ago who came on leaps and bounds with Renee/Joan and years later my grandson with Delia! So happy I found them.

"Ava (9) is now thinking about what she can do and not what she can't, and that really did start when we met you both. She would never have been able to to that before; she was so low, so convinced she was stupid, she was so ashamed of anything she did but you both have given her something so special, love, confidence and a sense that she can be what ever she wants to be. You both are so committed and I can always feel how much you care, she cherishes your understanding, she needs your caring. You are both helping her find her strengths, as different as they might be, and she needs that so much."

"I just wanted to thank you and Seth for an amazing handwriting course. The energy and warmth you create when you open up your home to the children is infectious. As soon as I dropped him off on Monday I knew he was taking part in something special. As you know I was a little bit worried about persuading Jake to do handwriting during the Easter holidays. I needn’t have been. I have never seen him so happy to go to a holiday camp before, let alone a handwriting camp! He really enjoyed meeting other children that also find handwriting difficult. It’s really helped his self esteem to know that he is not the only one who struggles. He also has a new found passion for spray painting. He is so proud of his graffiti canvas which now has pride of place in the kitchen! Thanks again for a wonderful week."
